Frida Kajsa Viktoria Plasencia Skybäck (born May 10, 1980 in Göteryd ) is a Swedish writer . She has written several historical novels . In 2018 her novel The Small Bookshop on the banks of the Thames in Sweden was published; the German translation was published by Insel Verlag in autumn 2019 .

Skybäck's debut novel Charlotte Hassel was published in 2011 and is about a young woman who fought for love , freedom and self-determination in 18th century Sweden . A year later her second novel, Den vita frun , was published, which revolves around the legend of the “white woman” at Borgeby Castle in Skåne . She then published a historical trilogy of novels about the Stiernfors sisters, the plot also takes place in Skåne. In autumn 2014, Skybäck and her fellow writer Agnes Hellström launched the podcast “Författerpodden” (German authors' podcast ), which the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter named the best podcast on literature and writing in the same year . In the podcast, Skybäck and Hellström talk about how the Swedish publishing industry works, how a manuscript gets to the publisher, how to deal with rejections and everything else that goes into the creative process of writing. Between 2015 and 2017, Skybäck was a columnist for the newspaper Skånska Dagbladet . In March 2018 she published The Little Bookstore on the Banks of the Thames . It's about the young Swede Charlotte, who inherits a house and bookstore in London . This is Skybäck's "best book", "a charming story of love and grief" and "a really well-written feel-good novel in the style of Lucy Dillon and Kate Morton ".
