The Borgeby Castle ( Borgeby slott ) is located in the historic southern Swedish province of Skåne in the municipality of Lomma on Kävlingeån . The castle stands on a Viking castle from the end of the 10th century. The valuable finds point to Harald Blauzahn and his closest circle. The ring wall had a diameter of 150 m. It was a fortification wall in several phases and two different moats. The buildings on the grounds burned down during the Viking Age.

The 1998 excavations brought to light a mint that proves that the castle was a castle of the archbishops in Lund until 1536 .

The castle has undergone various structural changes. "Börjes Tower" probably dates from the 15th century. It has been free since the east wing was demolished in 1860 and was restored in 1870. The gatehouse dates from the 16th century but has older parts. The current main building was built between 1650 and 1660. The brick stable building was built in 1744.

In the 14th century there was a stud there , as can be seen in the will of Archbishop Karl Eriksson († 1334). In 1452 the castle was burned down by Sweden and in 1658 by the Danes . According to excavation finds, it must have burned down in the 16th century. However, the sources are silent about it. It is believed that this happened in connection with the peasant uprising in 1525. After the Reformation , several Danish and Swedish noble families owned this castle since Christian III. had pledged to the noble mayor of Malmö , Jørgen Kock . Today it is a museum for the paintings of the painter Ernst Norlind , whose father-in-law bought the castle at an auction in 1886. The building has been under monument protection as Byggnadsminne since 1996 .
