Lomma is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Skåne län and the historic province of Skåne . The main town of the municipality is Lomma .

geography

The municipal area is relatively flat with a highest point 40 meters above sea level and is characterized by agricultural land. The beach on Öresund to the east is loamy in the far north of the municipality, quite stony between Habo Ljung and Bjärred and otherwise sandy.

history

Due to the favorable location between the mouths of the Kävlingeån and Höje å rivers , people from the Stone Age settled here. The main town of Lomma was founded in 1085 and the names of many places in the area are related to the nearby trade and religious center Lund .

population

Most of the community's residents live in the localities of Lomma and Bjärred . In 2000, both places were about the same size and together comprised about 93% of the population of the entire municipality. In 2003, 442 foreign residents lived here, which corresponds to a relative share of 2.4 percent. Between 2003 and 2005, an average of 25 people were granted Swedish citizenship each year.
