Frieda Beck-Weichselbaum

Frieda Beck-Weichselbaum , née Frieda Weixelbaum or Frieda Weichselbaum ( 1814 in Munich - around 1890 in Coburg ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ) and singing teacher.

Life

She was the daughter of the married couple Georg Weichselbaum (* 1781) and the Munich court singer Josephine Fantozzi-Weichselbaum (she was the daughter of the Italian couple Angelo Fantozzi and Maria Marchetti ). As a child she accompanied her parents on guest tours through Italy, where she performed in concerts in various cities.

In Germany she made her debut in Mainz in 1829, in 1830 she found her first engagement at the Darmstädter Hoftheater, 1831 to 1839 at the Hoftheater Coburg , where she was awarded the title of ducal chamber singer, 1839 to 1842 at the Hoftheater in Kassel, 1842 to 1846 in Cologne, 1846 to 1848 in Mainz, 1849 to 1853 in Würzburg, 1853 to 1859 in Augsburg , no longer accepted a firm commitment, but appeared as guests in all of Germany, as in Brussels, Antwerp, Stockholm etc. At the end of the 1860s she withdrew to Coburg, where she trained young talent on the stage and died very old.

She was married to an opera singer Beck, her son Edmund Beck also became a singer.
