Friedel Homeyer

Friedel Homeyer (* 1931 ; † 2008 ) was a German homeland researcher .

Life

Until his retirement in 1996 Friedel Homeyer was employed by the district of Hanover . From 1975 to 1982 he collected material for a documentation on the history of the Jews in this district on behalf of the Hanover district. During this time he identified a total of 20 Jewish cemeteries in the area of ​​today's district of Hanover, drew precise occupancy plans for all cemeteries and photographed the tombstones .

In 1985 Homeyer was awarded the Siegfried Lehmann Prize of the city of Barsinghausen . In the following year, 1986, the Lower Saxony Prime Minister honored him with the award of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit on ribbon .
