The Peace of Love (Czech libeňský mír ) was a peace treaty that was signed in 1608 between Rudolf II of Habsburg, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and his brother Matthias , governor of Austria at the time , in the Bohemian city of Lieben .

The background to this peace was the end of the fifteen-year Turkish War in 1606 and the Zittau peace agreement between the emperor and the Turks. The following Peace of Vienna (1606) , which was supposed to guarantee the Hungarians religious and political freedom, was signed for the Habsburgs by Matthias. Rudolf refused to sign. In the period that followed, there were more and more arguments between the two rulers, with Rudolf becoming more and more aware of his mental illness. Matthias organized a class uprising that was supposed to force Rudolf to sign the Vienna Treaty. The resistance movement found support from Austrians, Hungarians and Moravia. Bohemia remained on Rudolf's side because of the promise of its king to meet the demands.

On June 25, 1608, Rudolf was forced to sign the Liebener Peace Treaty. Matthias then received rule over the Kingdom of Hungary , the Archduchy of Austria and the Margraviate of Moravia . All that remained for Rudolf was the Kingdom of Bohemia , the Margraviate of Lusatia and the Duchy of Silesia . At the same time he paved the way for Matthias as his successor in Bohemia.
