Friedenskapelle (Nüdlingen)
The Friedenskapelle is located in Nüdlingen , a Bavarian community in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen .
history
The Friedenskapelle was built in 1958 on the southwest slope of the Osterberg on the initiative of the local pastor Baptist Leidner as well as the returnees , the population and the municipal administration of Nüdlingen. While the community provided the building material in the form of timber and rubble as well as a substantial amount of money, the local men did the necessary construction work free of charge.
The chapel houses a statue of the Virgin Mary inside and, in keeping with its purpose as a place of peace, bears the inscription “Queen of Peace, pray for us” above the chapel room.
On July 4, 1965, the first time in 52 years a primacy was held in Nüdlingen, which Wilhelm Mahlmeister, who came from the town, attended in the Friedenskapelle because St. Kilian's Church was closed for construction work.
