The Friedenskirche Stralsund is a church in the Frankensiedlung in Stralsund .

history

Plans to build a church for the parish of St. Jakobi / Heilgeist for the Frankensiedlung already existed when this urban area was expanded. After the Second World War , the plans were implemented. Due to the severe destruction of the Jakobikirche during the bombing raid on Stralsund on October 6, 1944 , the congregation needed new premises for their services. Between 1950 and 1951, the Friedenskirche was built in Voigdehäger Weg as part of the emergency church program . At the end of the 1970s, the rectory opposite the Friedenskirche was built.

local community

In 2001, the Friedensgemeinde merged with the parish of the Voigdehagen church to form the Peace / Voigdehagen parish . This is to be merged with the Jakobi-Heilgeist community. The congregation has been part of the Stralsund Propstei in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Stralsund parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .
