The Giebichenstein cemetery was established in the Giebichenstein district of Halle (Saale) in 1883 .

The first burial at the Giebichenstein cemetery took place in 1883. It is a relatively small cemetery with an area of ​​only about 0.26 hectares and around 100 grave sites. Hereditary burials, which are characteristic of the cemetery, are located along the boundary wall to Friedenstrasse. Among them is that of the mathematician Georg Cantor . In the middle of the site there are 52 honorary graves for those killed in World War II . The city of Halle is responsible for the cemetery.
