Since 1966 his works have been exhibited in numerous regional, national and international art associations, museums and galleries. Burkhardt Rokahr lives and works in Wolfenbüttel . B. Rokahr “does not work with artist's utensils, but with so-called simple materials such as fabric, paper and wood. He shapes these into shapes of his structures and confronts them as an ensemble with the space and its material: stone ”. He forms box and panel pictures, fabric bodies created by lacing or figures made of lengths of fabric and wooden slats. Most of his “installations” take place in historical rooms, mostly in sacred buildings, as evidenced by the exhibition locations (see below). “In addition to the material, the color is important to Rokahr. He uses them cautiously and powerfully, so that his objects become painterly sculptures between calm and restlessness, simplicity and abundance. "

The titles of many works and installations point in the same direction: Ex Voto, Wundkörper, Vanitas, Abyssus, Pentimenti, Demolition, Nothing. When asked about this, Rokahr emphasized the 'opposition of necrophilic and biophilic energy'. This applies even to his colorful panel paintings such as B. "Abriß II", which look like irregularly torn billboards in the tradition of the Affichists and yet are thoughtful and creative reconstructions.
