Forum for artists' bequests

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Forum for Artists 'Legacies Hamburg , formerly the Forum for Artists' Legacies , is a non-profit association for the preservation of artistic legacies. The seat of the association is in the artist house Sootbörn in Hamburg-Niendorf . The association was renamed on September 24, 2013.

description

The association was founded in 2003 in order to preserve the estates of visual artists as a unit or to secure a representative section. In addition to proper storage, the focus is on the scientific processing and exhibition of the works in connection with current art.

Since many artists' estates are lost to posterity after the death of their creators, for example due to inadequate storage and / or a lack of expertise, Hamburg art historians, historians, artists, heirs of art and other interested parties founded the association.

At least two exhibitions from the association's holdings take place every year.

Since 2008, the forum for artists' bequests has been working with the DigiCULT culture database to form an extensive network with museums and other cultural institutions.
