Rudolf Mahler

Rudolf Mahler (born December 6, 1905 in Altona , † June 3, 1995 in Schenefeld near Hamburg) was a north German graphic artist and painter.

Life

Rudolf Mahler was born in Altona in 1905, where he graduated from school with a secondary school leaving certificate. From 1921 to 1925 he completed an apprenticeship as typesetter and at the same time attended evening courses at the Altona School of Applied Arts and the State Art School in Hamburg . From 1926 to 1931 he practiced the profession of typesetter in various cities. This was followed by two semesters at the Altona School of Applied Arts before he took his master's examination as a typesetter in 1932. 1932–1936 followed painting studies with Werner Schlegel in Kassel and the management of a typesetting company in southern Germany, after which he worked as a typographer and graphic artist in an advertising department (1937–1940). After his return from the war (1945), he continued his artistic training in Hamburg continues as follows: four semesters at the Art School Alsterdamm four semesters at Baukreis Hamburg, two semesters at the State Art School in Hamburg. From 1955 until he retired in 1970, he worked as a proofreader, auditor, graphic artist and layouter in large Hamburg companies. In 1995 Rudolf Mahler died in Schenefeld near Hamburg. In 2015 the estate went to the “ Forum for Artists' Legacies eV” in Hamburg-Niendorf, which took over a representative core collection.
