Marianne Weingärtner

Marianne Weingärtner (born March 15, 1917 in Linz ; † March 9, 1995 in Hamburg ) was an artist.

Life

Weingärtner studied from 1934 to 1943 at the Academia de belle arte in Bucharest with Jean Alexandru Steriadi and at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin , including with Gerhard Ulrich , Gustav Hilbert and Kurt Wehlte .

After completing her studies, she began as a freelance artist with painting, graphics and drawing, book and press drawings and photography in Solothurn (Switzerland), Munich , Frankfurt am Main , Bremen and Hamburg. In 1958 she took over a professorship at the University of Applied Sciences , formerly Hamburg University of Applied Sciences , department of design (anatomy and figurative drawings, press drawings and illustrations , caricatures , comics ), which she held until 1980. From 1980, Weingärtner took over teaching anatomy and figurative drawing at the Institute for Contact Studies, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. In 1983 she founded and directed the master class drawing and painting.

Creative phase "Carnival in Venice"

Weingärtner traveled frequently to Venice from 1983 and developed a passion for the Venetian Carnival . She processed this in numerous photographs and paintings.

The Goethe-Institut in Hamburg presented in 2006 more than 80 of their works in a retrospective of. The exhibition was curated by Birgit Kassovic and organized together with Weingärtner's long-time partner, Eike Thombansen.
