Srebrniče cemetery

The Srebrniče cemetery is located in a forest in the Srebrniče settlement in the Novo mesto municipality in Slovenia .

history

The cemetery was built in 2000 according to the plans of the architect Aleš Vodopivec.

architecture

The cemetery complex has a burial hall and four closed chapels. A monumentally raised open pillared hall with 25 pillars in a square arrangement was juxtaposed with the trunks of a group of trees in front of the tree line. In the three-sided glazed sanctuary, the built space merges with the natural space. Introduced concrete slabs limit the view of the chapels.
