The upper cemetery chapel is one of two chapels on the forest cemetery in Düsseldorf-Gerresheim and was built for the city of Düsseldorf between 1963 and 65 according to the plans of the architects Hans Junghanns and Gerhard Nitschke .

description

The sacred space is built on a circular floor plan as a truncated cone. The chapel roof is covered with copper; the ceiling and the wall ring are inclined inwards; Daylight only comes in through a narrow band of skylights. The round building towers above the low entrance hall and operating rooms, which are combined by a wide roof slab.
