Cemetery linden tree in Stemwede-Oppenwehe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alte Friedhofslinde is an approximately 350-year-old linden tree in the East Westphalian municipality of Stemwede and a designated natural monument . It was probably planted in 1648 after the end of the Thirty Years' War , when the small chapel there, the Oppenweher Klus, was rebuilt. In 2010 a more detailed examination of the tree was carried out, which led to the conclusion that the linden tree was about 361 years old and therefore must have been planted around 1649.
