Friedrich Engels Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR
The Friedrich Engels Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR was a scientific award that was donated in 1956 and awarded every three years.
The prize was awarded by the Academy of Sciences of the GDR “in recognition of outstanding scientific achievements in the service of peace, democracy and progress in the fields of philosophy, history, political, legal and economic sciences, languages, in literature and art or in related scientific disciplines. "

Another Friedrich Engels Prize has been awarded since 1970 as a state award by the GDR Council of Ministers for “outstanding scientific and scientific organizational achievements to strengthen national defense” and presented by the Defense Minister .
