Friedrich Lehr (politician, 1917)

Friedrich Lehr (born June 8, 1917 in Maria Enzersdorf ; † October 27, 1990 in Mödling ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and trade unionist. From 1971 to 1982 he was a member of the National Council .

Life

Lehr was born in Maria Enzersdorf, but moved with his parents to Mödling at an early age, where he completed compulsory school. He learned the trade of carpenter and after looking for work for several years, he was employed by the Schleussner woodworks in Mödling. In 1938, Lehr was drafted into the Wehrmacht. He was wounded twice and released from American captivity in 1946. After his return, he found work again in 1948 at the Schleussner woodworks, where he also worked as a works council from 1949. He graduated from the three-year technical college for trade unionists and joined the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions in 1956 as a specialist secretary for construction and woodworkers.

Lehr was also a district official of the SPÖ Mödling from 1952, was elected a member of the municipal council in 1955 and worked as a city councilor for personnel, welfare and construction matters. From 1970 he held the office of Vice Mayor, between December 20, 1980 and June 18, 1982 he was Mayor of Mödling. In 1969 he also became district chairman of the SPÖ Mödling and worked within the party as a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Lower Austria. Furthermore, he became regional chairman of the trade union of construction and woodworkers in Lower Austria and regional office chairman for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland of the general accident insurance company. Lehr represented the SPÖ in the National Council between January 12, 1971 and September 30, 1982.

Lehr was buried in the Mödling city cemetery after his death. Friedrich Lehr-Strasse in Mödling was named after him.
