Friedrich von Winterfeld (* 1666 ; † October 1, 1707 with Menin ) was a royal Danish major general and chief of the Oldenburg cuirassier regiment.

His parents were the governor Freiherr Helmuth Otto von Winterfeld , Freiherr auf Wintersborg (* 1617; † February 17, 1694) and his second wife, Freiin Helene Juliane von Ulsparre (1638-1683).

Life

On June 9, 1694, he became a captain in the Dragoons' Leibregiment. On March 31, 1696 he received his farewell from there. But already on May 25, 1696 he received a new position as a major in the 2nd Fühnische Reiter Regiment. When his brother Christian Ernst died in 1695, he inherited his Wustrow estate . He sold this on December 8, 1696 to Lieutenant General Samuel Christopher von Plessen . This sale repeatedly led to disputes over the next few years.

On September 20, 1701 he was transferred to the 2nd Jutland cavalry regiment. The regiment came in English pay in 1702 and was sent to Brabant. In Brabant he changed on February 7, 1702 as a lieutenant colonel in the 5th Jutland cavalry regiment. But already on December 2nd, 1702 he came into the Holsteiner Reiterregiment. He was wounded at Höchstädt on August 13, 1704. On March 1, 1707 he was promoted to colonel and chief of the Oldenburg Cuirassier Regiment. He died of a hot fever on October 1, 1707 during the siege of Menin .
