LoveScout24 (formerly Friendscout24) is a dating portal operated by Munich- based FriendScout24 GmbH, which offers online dating in various European countries . The company has been part of the Meetic Group since July 2014 .

LoveScout24 is the single exchange with the largest number of members in Germany. According to its own information (2012), it has more than 24 million registered profiles in various European countries. Figures for individual countries are not shown separately. According to LoveScout24, around 1 million members are active throughout Germany per month. Registration is free, additional services are chargeable.
LoveScout24 and FriendScout24 emerged from the privately initiated partner exchange “peopleunited.de” (operated by People United GmbH, which was founded in 1996 and dissolved in 2000).
Portal functions
When registering, the user gives a pseudonym . After registration, each member has a profile available for self-presentation. In addition to questions about yourself (date of birth, occupation, appearance) and an introductory free text, there were 25 further questions about the appearance of the desired partner, relationship ideas, zodiac signs or favorite literature, etc. "By popular request", until the redesign on June 17, 2015 "But not adopted", ie removed, the number of additional free texts has been reduced to five. The single search takes place via various search masks. In the quick search, only gender, age, postcode and country of residence are entered. In the detailed search, each member can provide information on the age, appearance, education, marital status and lifestyle of the dream partner. In order to get in contact with other users, a chat, normal messages or sending a so-called flirt contact with ready-made text modules can be used.
LoveScout24 offers a service for users of mobile devices with an app for iOS and Android- based systems and a WAP service. Non-paying members can access some central functions of the website (for example profile search and display, list of visitors to their own profile and receive messages). Only paying customers can reply by e-mail; non-paying customers have the option of sending the symbolic component “I want to meet you” via a so-called date roulette.
Member service and costs
According to LoveScout24, the distribution of members by gender is balanced and the registered members are approximately 45% women compared to 55% men. In order to read the news and to see the visitor list, among other things, one of the various paid premium memberships is required. A standardized expression of interest via a flirt contact can also be sent to other profiles by non-paying members, but only viewed by paying members. This often leads to misunderstandings, because the other person does not want to ignore the request, but is technically limited.
International
In addition to Germany, the LoveScout24 brand is offered in Austria (2004) and Switzerland (2004) under the respective national top-level domain . Previously, the product was offered from 2005 in Spain, from 2006 in Italy and 2008 in the Netherlands and from 2009 in Belgium.
criticism
In numerous forums and field reports, the paid subscriptions, especially the non-transparent cancellation options in this context, often give rise to criticism. Furthermore, the sometimes non-transparent types of costs of premium membership are criticized as well as many profiles of fakes and scammers .
