Friends of Jo Cox

Friends of Jo Cox is a benefit music project by British pop stars and politicians that was launched by Steve Harley in late 2016 to commemorate the murder of MP Jo Cox . The recorded single You Can't Always Get What You Want , a cover version of the Rolling Stones hit , is the favorite for Christmas number one among British bookmakers .

Affected by the June 16, 2016 murder of Jo Cox, Harley teamed up with musicians Ricky Wilson , KT Tunstall and David Gray to record a single on their behalf. The musicians were joined by the band MP4 and four British MPs from the Labor , Conservatives and SNP parties . The project was complemented by the Parliamentary Choir and the Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus . Students from the National College Creative Industries helped with the production and creation of the accompanying music video.

The single was released on December 16, 2016. All proceeds will go to the Jo Cox Foundation. The Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond also announced that all income from VAT will also go to charity. During a question time in parliament, opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn and Prime Minister Theresa May called on the population to download the single.
