Frijid Pink

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Frijid Pink, 1970

Frijid Pink was an American band formed in Detroit in 1967 . Founding members were Richard Stevers (drums), Gary Ray Thompson (guitar), Tom Harris (bass) and Kelly Green (vocals). In 1969 they got a record deal with Parrot Records .

Career

The greatest success achieved Frijid Pink with their version of The House of the Rising Sun . Psychedelic distorted and overdriven electric guitars made the song in this version a hard rock classic . In 1970, Frijid Pink had worldwide success with the title: number seven in the USA, number seven in Great Britain and number one in the German hit lists for two weeks. Subsequently, the band achieved a few minor successes, including the cover version of the Elvis Presley hit Heartbreak Hotel . The band could not repeat the initial success. After a last album in 1975, it broke up.
