Fritz Plaumann
Fritz Plaumann (born May 2, 1902 in Preußisch Eylau ; † September 22, 1994 in Seara ) was a German-Brazilian entomologist .
Career
Plaumann emigrated to Brazil in 1924. There he worked as a farmer, teacher, photographer and businessman. As an autodidact, he observed and described the regional fauna and rediscovered 1,500 species of insects. In 70 years of scientific work he put together a collection of 80,000 insects of 17,000 different species. Since 1988 it has formed the basis of the Museu Entomológico Fritz Plaumann in Seara.
