Fritz Seibert (* July 14, 1917 ; † 2005 or 2006) was a German communist, journalist, author and Wehrmacht deserter .

Life

Seibert learned the profession of radio mechanic after elementary school. He came from a social democratic working class family. His father was persecuted by the Nazis and died as a result of his imprisonment. As a conscripted Wehrmacht soldier, he used a favorable opportunity to change fronts in Slovakia in 1944. A military court sentenced him to death in absentia.

After returning to Offenbach , he became a member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and editor of a KPD newspaper. After the Federal Constitutional Court banned the KPD, Seibert was imprisoned for a while. After that he had to work for himself and his family as a laborer until he was able to work again as an editor of newly founded left-wing newspapers and as a journalist. In 1968 he became a correspondent for the DKP newspaper Our Time (UZ) for Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. He was also often sent abroad by the UZ central editorial office. In addition, he wrote several books for the publishing house Marxistische Blätter and Weltkreisverlag.

Seibert was buried in the Hausener forest cemetery. His autobiography, published in 1995, is self-published by DKP Offenbach and is not available from DNB.
