Fritz Wirtz

Friedrich Bernhard Wirtz (born June 24, 1921 in Gelsenkirchen , † March 19, 1994 ) was a German SPD politician .

education and profession

After graduating from elementary school and vocational school, Fritz Wirtz did an apprenticeship as a toolmaker . Then he became a technical draftsman . He then attended the Academy of Labor, Frankfurt. He worked as the first authorized representative and managing director of IG Metall in the Bochum administrative office.

Fritz Wirtz was a member of the SPD from 1946. He was active in the SPD district association committee in Bochum from 1968 to 1975. From 1970 to 1975 he was a member of the executive board of the district association. In 1975 he became deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district of Bochum. Wirtz was chairman of the Bochum-Griesenbruch local association from 1976. He also acted as a member of the regional committee of the working group for employee issues. From 1948 to 1953 he worked as a youth secretary in the German trade union federation local committee Wattenscheid and Düsseldorf. From 1954 to 1960 he was chairman of the German trade union federation in Neuss-Grevenbroich and from 1960 to 1966 he was chairman of the German trade union federation in Wattenscheid district. He became a member of the advisory board and the large collective bargaining commission of the metal industry union in 1967. He served as a city councilor for the city of Bochum from 1969 to 1970.

From July 26, 1970 to May 29, 1985, Fritz Wirtz was a directly elected member of the 7th , 8th and 9th Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia for constituency 106 Bochum II and constituency 124 Bochum I.
