Frohnhardt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Frohnhardt is a district of the city of Königswinter in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It belongs to the district and the district Oberpleis , on December 31, 2019 it had 438 inhabitants.

Frohnhardt is about 200  m above sea level. NHN on a slope sloping from east to west in the Pleiser Hügelland , about one kilometer from Oberpleis. The district is bordered by forest to the south and east, and the district of Pützstück adjoins it in the northeast . A tributary of the Eisbach rises in Frohnhardt and joins it to the northwest of the village. From Frohnhardt there are visual connections to the Großer Ölberg , the highest mountain in the Siebengebirge at 461 meters above sea level and, if the weather is clear, to Cologne.

The place name is derived from two words. On the one hand from the word " Frondienst " and on the other from the toponym " Hardt ", which was a common term for at the time

wooded areas in the Rhineland. This suggests that the Frohnhardt area at that time was a piece of forest in which farmers worked for their landlords.
