The Front des Forces Sociales (FFS) is a party in the West African state of Burkina Faso .

Thanks to her prominent party founder Norbert Michel Tiendrébéogo , she is known nationwide.

history

After the presidential election in 2005, in which its candidate Tiendrébéogo only finished seventh with 1.6% of the vote, the FFS fell silent. Today it only has a few seats on the local councils and one seat in the National Assembly.

In the 2007 parliamentary elections, the FFS took part in an electoral union ( Union des partis sankaristes, UPS). Her top candidate Tiendrébéogo was elected to the National Assembly, as was a second UPS candidate.

On March 14, 2008, Tiendrébéogo announced that he would resume the chairmanship of the party after having previously unsuccessfully sought the position of chairman of the UPS.

ideology

The FFS is one of numerous socialist- Sankarist splinter parties. Ideologically, the FFS sees itself in the tradition of the former President Thomas Sankara .
