Cocos Islands football selection
The football selection of Cocos Islands is the national football team to Australia belonging Cocos Islands in the Indian Ocean .
status
The team is not a member of FIFA or any continental federation and can therefore not take part in qualifying matches for a World Cup or a Continental Cup. It is administered by the umbrella organization (Cocos (Keeling) Islands Soccer Association) of the islands, which also organizes the annual Inter-Island Cup together with the Christmas Island Soccer Federation.
Encounters
So far, the selection has played 10 international matches, all against the soccer team of Christmas Island in the Inter-Island Cup in 1994, 1997, 1999, 2004 and 2005. The Inter-Island Cup is played between the two teams in two games, with the soccer selection der Kokosinseln has been able to win individual games, but has not yet won the Inter-Island Cup, which is decided by the sum of the goals scored in both games.
