The joint plate is a sheet metal strip which is used in concrete construction, two by a construction joint separate components of waterproof concrete waterproof each other to connect. The use of metal water stops is regulated in the WU guideline of the DAfStb , dimensions for metal water stops are described in the building regulations list A Part 1. According to the WU guideline, only joint sheets made of grease-free and uncoated sheets are to be used. A proof of usability in the form of an "abP" (general building inspectorate test certificate) is always required for coated metal seams.

When building a white tub , the joint sheet is attached to the reinforcement of the floor slab in such a way that part of the sheet protrudes from the first cast floor slab and is poured into the rising walls when the walls are later poured. For other component connections (for example wall-wall), the sheets have different shapes adapted to the intended use. Depending on the requirements, there are also coated versions in addition to the simple galvanized joint plate. The joints between two metal seams are welded or held together with a clamp so that the gap does not gape and leak when concreting.

The connection with a metal joint is not elastic - for watertight expansion joints between concrete components, an expansion joint tape (elastomer or tricomer joint sealing tape) is used or a rubber-reinforced expansion joint is planned.
