Lock at Tchaikovsky on the outflow of the Kama from the Votkinsk reservoir |
The Votkinsk reservoir ( Russian Воткинское водохранилище ) is a reservoir of the Kama , which is dammed near Tchaikovsky in the Perm region in the European part of Russia .
The purpose of the dam, named after the city of Votkinsk , is navigability, electricity generation and flow regulation. A hydroelectric power plant ( ⊙ ) generates an output of 1 gigawatt .
The reservoir was dammed between 1962 and 1964. The size of the water surface is given in the sources as 1120 km² or 1300 km². For the content of the congestion there are two figures 9.4 and 15 billion cubic meters. The reservoir is 365 km long and up to 9 km wide. The average water depth is 8.4 m (calculated from the information given first for storage volume and area). The Saigatka also flows into the reservoir.
On the bank of the reservoir are the places Perm , Krasnokamsk , Nytva , Okhansk and Ossa , among others .
The barrier structure is a gravity dam combined with an earth embankment dam . Its greatest height is 44 m, the total length 4982 m.
