Votkinsk ( Russian Воткинск ; Udmurt Вотка , Wotka ) is an industrial town with 99,022 inhabitants (14 October 2010) in which to Russia associated Republic of Udmurtia .
Votkinsk is located about 50 km northeast of the republic capital Izhevsk . The city stretches along the bank of the “Votkinsk Pond”, a lake created by the damming of the Votka River . The Votkinsk hydroelectric power station is located 30 km from Votkinsk.
history
Votkinsk was created in 1759 in connection with the construction of a hammer mill . In 1935 it received city status. Votkinsk is the birthplace of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky . The composer spent the first eight years of his life here.

There are several factories in Votkinsk, including the mechanical engineering company Votkinski Zavod , which dates back to the hammer mill built in the 18th century and today produces, among other things, Topol-M rockets .
