Alexei Woltschuk only started biathlon at the age of 26. Before that he was active in cross-country skiing and cycling . He lives in Izhevsk and, like Oksana Neupokoyeva and Sergei Tarasov, is trained by Nikolai Chasejew . In the strong Russian biathlon team he could not qualify for international assignments, but won several titles at national championships. Most recently he was able to prevail in the sprint in 2009, and he won his first title in 2004 in an individual race. He also competes in summer biathlon. In 2003 he was awarded the title of "International Master of Sports".
