Fujiwara no Moromichi
Fujiwara no Moromichi ( Japanese 藤原 師 通 ; * 1062 ; † 1099 ) became Kampaku (regent) at the Japanese imperial court in 1094 .
Life path
Fujiwara no Moromichi was the eldest son of Fujiwara no Morozane . He studied classical literature under Ōe no Tadafusa . He was also known under the name Go-Nijō-dono. Therefore his memoirs are known under the title Go-Nijō-kampaku-ki . His talents as a poet, calligrapher and biwa player are famous .
In 1094 he became head of the family of Fujiwara and his father's successor in the office of regent ( kampaku ) for the Horikawa -Tennō. In this office he opposed the interference in state affairs by the resigned Emperor Shirakawa .
He is said to have had a son named Kakuei, whose historicity is not certain.
