Fujiwara no Tadazane

Fujiwara no Tadazane ( Japanese 藤原 忠 実 ; * 1078 ; † 1162 ) was a Japanese regent of the early 12th century from the influential Fujiwara family .

From 1105 to 1121 he acted as regent ( Sesshō or Kampaku ) for three Japanese emperors:

  • 1105–1107 Kampaku for Emperor Horikawa .
  • 1107–1113 Sesshō for Emperor Toba .
  • 1113–1121 Kampaku for Emperor Toba.

He was the grandson of Fujiwara no Morozane . He built a villa in 1114, Fukedono , north of the Byōdō-in temple.

His eldest son Fujiwara no Tadamichi was his successor as regent and one of the main actors in the Hōgen rebellion of 1156. He had a very tense relationship with his much younger brother Fujiwara no Yorinaga .
