Fujiya & Miyagi are a British band formed in Brighton in 2000 . The members are Steve Lewis , David Best (vocals) and Matt Hainsby and Lee Adams (drums).

They make music that is often performed with the bands Neu! or power plant is compared.

The band name is based on the film "Karate Kid" (Miyagi) and "Fujiya" was the name of their recording device.

David Best and Steve Lewis founded Fujiya & Miyagi in 2000, at the time they were still a duo. The two describe their infectious pop songs as a strange mixture of James Brown on Valium and Wire switched to pop music.

While they are still a duo in 2003, Fujiya & Miyagi released their debut album "Electro Karaoke in the Negative" on the Tirk Records label. To support the band on tour, Matt Hainsby joined them a little later.

In 2006 the band released their second album, "Transparent Things", which was released the following year on Herbert Grönemeyer's Greenland label. But they only had their breakthrough after the release of "Light Bulbs" in 2008.
