from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Uwe Strasek (born March 3, 1964 - † October 21, 2017 ) was a German tower and water diver at SV Neptun Aachen in 1910 .

Uwe Strasek's sporting career started promisingly. In 1986 he achieved an excellent 3rd place at the German championships in artificial jumping from the 3-meter board. In 1987 he was also 3rd at the German Indoor Championships in jumping from the 1-meter board. He was able to repeat this success in 1988. In addition, he reached a second place in jumping from the 3-meter board. Due to a serious accident, Uwe Strasek was unable to train to the extent that he was initially unable to take part in any national or international championships.

In 1994 he drew attention to himself with three first places at the “World Master Championships” in Montreal in the age group from 30 to 34 years. He not only won the world title on the 1-meter board, but also on the 3-meter board and 3-meter tower. In doing so, he broke the previous FINA record at world championships in the 1-meter competition and even set a new FINA world record from the 3-meter board. Two years later he was able to defend his titles in all three areas in Sheffield .

In Germany he drew attention again in 1995 with a 2nd place in jumping from the 1-meter board at the German indoor championship.
