Fulgenzio Valesi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fulgenzio Valesi (also Fulgencio and Fulgentio Valesi Parmegiano; * around 1565 in Parma , † after 1614) was an Italian composer.

Life

Fulgenzio Valesi was a Cistercian monk at the convent of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme in Rome from 1593 to 1600 . His name appears in documents as part of the publication of the Graduale Romanum , which was revised according to the specifications of the Tridentine Council . Here he was probably responsible with others for the reading of the texts and their correct liturgical application. In 1600 he left Rome. Presumably he was in Milan from 1608, since from this time works from his pen appeared in Milan music collections and he had his Opus 2 printed here in 1611.
