The Fundació Illes Balears is a Spanish foundation for the promotion of cultural projects on the Balearic Islands . The purpose of the foundation is to acquire and maintain fincas , buildings and historical sites in rural and urban areas that are typical, significant and worth preserving for the history and architecture of the Balearic Islands. The seat of the foundation is in Palma de Mallorca . The foundation was established on December 30, 1988 by 33 personalities from the Balearic Islands region.
