Finca in Mallorca
Modern finca

A Finca [ FINKA ] ( Spanish "Property") refers to an agricultural land, usually with Kotten , cottage , farm or estate , often with a pool and an attached plantation . Especially in tourism , the term is often used in everyday German today for a rural holiday home on the Spanish mainland, on the Balearic Islands , the Canary Islands or in the various countries of Spanish America . This normally refers to a detached holiday home, which - contrary to the original meaning of the term - is usually not located on a cultivated agricultural property, but rather represents the traditional character of a finca through its specific construction and typical location.

Fincas usually look back on a long history and are often more than 300 years old. In some areas (especially in the Balearic Islands), however, new buildings are still being built, which are based on historical fincas in terms of their architectural style. Most of them have a pool as well as saunas or other wellness facilities . The rooms often still have their original walls, but a high hotel standard is usually guaranteed.
