Functional model

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

technology

A functional model is a simplified or true-to-scale and detailed structural replica of a device that can also perform the most important functions of the original. Examples:

  • airworthy model airplanes ,
  • Model trains with their own drive
  • Ship models that swim, if necessary also drive remotely,
  • Model cars and model utility vehicles with drive and possibly also other mechanically or motor-driven functions, for example on truck models
    • Raise / lower the trailer support
    • Open / close clutch
    • Tip the dump body
    • functional loading crane with several axles
    • functional hydraulic supports (claws)
    • functioning depositing and unwinding devices
  • Miniature replicas of rides
  • Model steam engines

In addition to model making as a hobby, functional models are also used to explore technical principles or the feasibility of certain systems.

Computer science

In computer science and software technology , functional models are created in order to identify all system parts required within an overall system to be developed as part of the system analysis and to represent and describe their communication (with one another, with regard to the data used , with other systems and with those involved in the system's environment). In addition to the data model, such models form the basis for implementation / programming .

Different procedures / methods can be used that have different procedures in detail, know different terminology and produce different results. Examples:

Transaction analysis

In transactional analysis , the functional model of the ego states denotes the analysis of the here and now observable modes of appearance of the ego states.

Organizations

The term functional model describes the representation of the parts and the interaction of an organization.

Medicine and biology

The graphic representation or structural reproduction of the interaction of body parts and / or organs of living beings is referred to here as a functional model.
