A Ride (rarer driving ) is an entertainment attraction in amusement parks or carnivals . The most common rides are carousels , autodromes , air and ship swings , ferris wheels , roller coasters and movable stands , show booths and circus tents . While the rides installed in amusement parks are usually permanent facilities (i.e. they are structures in the classic sense), the rides used at public festivals are temporary structures , i.e. In other words , they are dismantled at the end of the festival, transported to another festival site and reassembled there, which must be taken into account in the design.

safety

In Germany, rides are subject to strict controls by the TÜV and must be checked annually for damage and wear. After each construction, the local building authority must check whether an amusement ride has been set up in accordance with TÜV regulations. The ride may only be put into operation after the acceptance test, which also includes a test drive. The German TÜV standard is the strictest in the world and is therefore highly regarded; it serves as a sales argument for manufacturers worldwide.

Many other countries have similarly strict regulations. In addition to the German TÜV, other organizations such as B. Det Norske Veritas entrusted the inspection of the systems. In some countries, however, such tests are not required or the regulations are much less demanding.

Other rides

The following railways are not rides in the strict sense, but are used as such:
