The Furness Glacier is a glacier on the north coast of Elephant Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It flows into the sea between Cape Belsham and Point Wild .
Participants in the endurance expedition (1914-1916) led by the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton mapped and named him. Further backgrounds of the naming have not been handed down.
