Point Wild is a headland on the north coast of Elephant Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 10 km west of Cape Valentine , 800 m east of Cape Belsham and marks the eastern limit of Caleta Salvador Reyes .
The British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton named it during the endurance expedition (1914–1917) as Cape Wild . It is named after the British polar explorer Frank Wild (1873-1939), who led the team on this expedition after the end of the Endurance that waited for four months to be rescued by Shackleton in August 1916 on this headland.
