history

Furthmühle Pram is mentioned for the first time in 1371 in a listing by Count Schaunberg as "Pram, mul and say, furtmul zu Pram" . The name Furthmühle comes from a shallow spot in the water, a ford where it is possible to cross the river without aids. Until the 20th century, the mill was supplied with grain by around 140 farmers from twelve communities. The principle of the “toll” was used until the time between the world wars, when the miller kept around ten percent of the product for himself. Since the start of electrification in 1918, the mill has been supplied by a small power station, and two batteries were available for high consumption at events . The Pramer Lichtgesellschaft was founded in 1922. which the electricity customers took over.

A change of ownership is documented in 1625. After a fire in 1898, Amalia Pichler rebuilt the mill. She married Josef Irger-Berger, so that the mill passed into his possession. When Amalia died in 1910, he married Maria Mühlbeck, who gave birth to the children Alois and Marianne. Marianne took over the mill in 1937 until her death in 1987. In 1991 the Wageneder family sold the mill to the municipality of Pram.

The Furthmühle cultural association was founded in 1992, with the task of maintaining and operating as well as offering events.
