Futunian (own name: Fakafutuna ) is a Polynesian language spoken on the islands of Futuna and Alofi . The language is also spoken by immigrants to New Caledonia . The related Wallisian language is spoken in Uvéa , but Wallisian shows a greater influence from the Tongan language , Futuna more from Samoan .
According to Ethnologue , fakafutuna is spoken by 3,600 people in Futuna and another 3,000 migrant workers in New Caledonia .
