Gábor Szabó (medic)
Gábor Balázs Szabó (born July 13, 1969 in Budapest , Hungary ) is a specialist in cardiac surgery .
Szabó studied human medicine at the Semmelweis University in Budapest. From 1992 to 1994 he worked as a research assistant at Heidelberg University Hospital . In 1994 he was at the University of Budapest with the work impact of atrial fibrillation on the coronary circulation to Dr. med. PhD . From 1995 to 1999 he worked as an intern and research assistant at Heidelberg University Hospital . In 1999 he received his thesis The pathophysiology of the donor heart at the University of Budapest . Brain death and ischemia / reperfusion the Ph.D. In 2004 he completed his habilitation at the University of Heidelberg with the thesis Pathophysiology of the donor heart: Development of new concepts of donor conditioning and organ preservation in the context of heart transplantation. Since 2004 he has been the head of experimental cardiac surgery and executive senior physician. His scientific work focuses on heart transplantation , donor management and ischemia-reperfusion damage.
Gábor Szabó is married and has three daughters and one son.
