The Gävle Symphony Orchestra (Gävle symfoniorkester) is a Swedish symphony orchestra based in the city of Gävle .

history

The orchestra was founded in 1912 and today has 52 permanent members. The orchestra has also had its own concert hall since 1998.

Well-known chief conductors of the orchestra included Ruben Liljefors (1912–1931), Stig Westerberg (1949–1953), Siegfried Naumann (1953–1954), Carlos Spierer (1997–2000), Robin Ticciati (2006–2009) and Jaime Martín (since 2013).
