Ruben Liljefors

Ruben Mattias Liljefors (born September 30, 1871 in Uppsala , † March 4, 1936 ibid) was a Swedish composer and conductor.

Life

Liljefors studied in Uppsala with Ivar Eggert Hedenblad until 1895 and then with Salomon Jadassohn in Leipzig until 1899 . He later attended the Conservatory in Stockholm . He completed his training with Felix Draeseke , Max Reger and Hermann Ludwig Kutzschbach . From 1902 to 1911 he was choir conductor and director of the Gothenburg Philharmonic Society . From 1912 to 1931 he was the conductor of the regional orchestra in Gävle .

He composed a symphony , a concert and a festival overture, an orchestral suite , a piano concerto and a violin sonata . One of his most famous pieces is När det lider mot jul .

His brother was the Swedish animal painter Bruno Liljefors (1860–1939).
