After this personal success, he moved within the league to TSV 1860 Munich , who had reached the promotion round as Bayernliga champions, but missed the return to the second division after five defeats. In the 1984/85 season , the club was threatened with relegation to the national league. Stockinger played twelve games of the season alongside players like Gerald Hillringhaus , Joachim Goldstein , Kurt Eigl and Reiner Leitl before moving on during the winter break.

Stockinger joined the league rivals SpVgg Bayreuth, where he contributed as a top performer with five goals to the championship in the Bayernliga. In the subsequent round of promotion he prevailed with the club ahead of Viktoria Aschaffenburg , FSV Salmrohr and SV Sandhausen . Although he scored nine goals this season in the second division season 1985/86 and was tied with Rüdiger Scheler the club's best internal goalscorer, the club missed relegation. With ten goals this season in the following Bayern league season, he was instrumental in direct recovery. In the following years, less dangerous, he played for the club in the second division until 1990. Then his further playing career is lost.

At the end of his career, Stockinger volunteered at FC Vilshofen and worked as a youth coach, among other things.
