Flat glass quality association
The Gütegemeinschaft Flachglas eV (GGF, until April 11, 2018 Gütegemeinschaft Mehrplatten-Isolierglas eV , GMI) is a German quality association within the meaning of the principles for quality marks of the RAL German Institute for Quality Assurance and Labeling , based in Troisdorf . The association does not pursue any political goals and does not maintain any economic business operations. All office holders carry out their activities on a voluntary basis .
The quality assurance of the RAL Gütegemeinschaft places additional requirements on the multiple-pane insulating glass and on the quality and properties of the preliminary products that go beyond the product standard DIN EN 1279 . This is intended to improve the usability and the longevity of the multi-pane insulating glass. In addition, tight tolerances for the physical radiation properties, the emissivity and the gas filling level ensure reliable functional values that are regularly checked by an independent monitoring body. The valid quality and test regulations for obtaining the RAL quality mark multi-pane insulating glass (RAL-GZ 520) were published in June 2008 by the RAL German Institute for Quality Assurance and Labeling.
The association, to which more than 100 companies in the glass industry belong, has the purpose of ensuring the quality of multi-pane insulating glass (MIG) and awarding insulating glass the quality mark for multi-pane insulating glass. In addition, the GMI has the task of monitoring that users of the quality mark comply with the association's statutes. It obliges the user to label only those products whose quality is guaranteed and works to increase the public awareness and reputation of the quality mark.
For manufacturers of insulating glass units, the prerequisite for wearing the quality mark is, in particular, external monitoring of their production by a neutral testing institute.
